We have big area rugs over wood floors and it's just fine on the carpet. But the part the "sucks" up is 100% plastic, yes even the underside - nothing on the bottom at all to protect bare floors. So when my son pushes it around and it invariably ends up on the wood floor on the way to the next area rug, it first of all makes a HUGE racket (hard plastic being pushed against bare floor) and makes every adult in the house shout a reminder to go slow and be easy etc etc etc. Insane. I cannot figure out a fix - if I put some of those self-adhesive felt things on, they're going to get yanked off when he goes over carpet. I haven't a clue why they chose to make this 100% plastic with no protection on the bottom - not every kid is going to be using it on wall-to-wall carpet. He's never gotten tired with a toy Dirt Devil vaccum at the pediatrician's office, so I decided to get him a miniaturized version of our Miele Aquarius. I was so close to buying a dirt devil, but at the last minute stumbled upon this good looking thing. Everyone knows Miele has the best dishwashers so to see their name on a toy vacuum cleaner helped me decide on this one. Well, my son loves it. He pushes it around like he has the real thing. It makes a low sounding vacuum noise, but DOES NOT SUCK so don't expect that. The vacuum portion can open (there is a small bag + a bag of small ball-like foam particles), but we don't really use it. I love the way it looks, it's not educational or sings, but that's ok by me since he has a million other toys that do that! If you are looking for a beautiful looking toy vacuum that does the job, this is it. No bells or whistles. |
